Preserving knowledge forever with decentralized, tamper-proof archives.
ChronoPapers is a decentralized archive for academic research, built on Filecoin Onchain Cloud.
It allows researchers to upload, timestamp, and preserve their papers permanently while ensuring authenticity through verifiable storage proofs. Each paper gets a unique CID (Content Identifier), and versioning ensures transparency for updates or corrections.
Problem
Academic knowledge is fragile in its current state:
- Research papers are stored in centralized repositories (e.g., publishers, institutional databases) that can restrict access or lose content over time.
- No guarantee of permanence, once a server is down or a paywall is enforced, access disappears.
- Authenticity concerns, without verifiable provenance, researchers cannot prove if a version of a paper is original or altered.
- Fragmented versioning makes it hard to trust citations and track corrections.
- Global researchers, especially from developing regions, lack access to censorship-resistant, reliable, and permanent storage for their work.
This problem matters because loss of research = loss of human progress, and current systems do not ensure permanence or verifiability.
Solution
ChronoPapers is a decentralized, tamper-proof archive for research papers built on Filecoin Onchain Cloud.
- Researchers upload papers → Stored immutably on Filecoin/IPFS.
- Each file receives a CID (Content Identifier), stored onchain.
- Proof of Data Possession (PDP) ensures files still exist without re-upload.
